Aftermath | Landon Elliott | TEDxYouth@RVA

Singer-songwriter Landon Elliott performs his original song, “Aftermath,” in a moving expression of his experience as recently coming out as gay. With a guitar as his only company onstage, Elliott tries to let you know just who he is through impassioned lyrical rhythm. Born and raised in a Christian community in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, Elliott uses this song to address, appreciate, and express pride in anyone who has felt the weight and sacrifice of speaking their truth. Landon Elliott is a Richmond, VA-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. His new music is an inside look at the fallout from coming out as gay later in life, with no regrets but an honest acceptance of the price that had to be paid to live his truth. It’s about taking an honest inventory of potential relationships lost and the inevitable life changes, weighing the decision to live pinned by shame or to find freedom in authenticity. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
